I didn't expect this

Hi Reader,

Last week, I asked you to share your thoughts on me creating a talk or resources to help support conversations around weight and body image, and the response was overwhelming. I think it was the most replies I’ve ever gotten to a newsletter.

Many of the stories shared broke my heart, and that’s exactly why I want to help with this topic. Every person deserves to feel confident and loved in their body, and to understand the value of nutrition and how it can help fuel your body.

I want to make sure I do this right, and strive to answer every question and touch on every topic you all shared with me, so it may take a little bit of time. Thank you for sharing your stories and concerns with me. This community is amazing, and I’m so glad we are here to support one another through both the challenges and joys in parenting.

I’ll be busy pulling together all of my thoughts and creating easy ways to share the information. In the meantime, if you think of additional topics you’d like me to address, please don’t hesitate to hit reply and let me know.

I’m grateful for you, and excited to dive into this topic further! ♥️

Mom Lunches

After you pour all that energy into feeding your kids, it can be hard to also take care of yourself. These are my go-to lunches lately:

  • Potato & white bean soup - make once, eat all week
  • Whole wheat tortilla with peanut butter and a Greek yogurt + apple slices (this is my go-to when I have nothing else prepped and I just need to get something in me!)
  • Microwave sweet potato, top with black beans, salsa, cheese and avocado
  • Wild Planet Tuna & Red Bean Salad - I like to eat this on some spinach
  • Wildwood Teriyaki Baked Tofu - I like this with some leftover rice (or microwave) plus broccoli or peas, avocado and soy sauce

Hi Reader, I’ve had a few conversations with moms lately about something that feels especially hard to get “right” – talking to our kids about weight, and how food relates to their body. And I shared a post on Instagram that resonated with a lot of you about what to do if your kid comes to you and says, “I’m fat.” (If you haven’t seen it you can read it on Instagram or Facebook.) I got a lot of great feedback from moms thanking me for talking about it openly and for helping them feel more...

Young Boy Leaning on Couch While Yawning

Hi Reader, I bought Teddy a book earlier this month that I can’t stop thinking about and HAD to share with you, because it’s so good. It’s called The Amazing Generation: Your Guide to Fun and Freedom in a Screen-Filled World by Jonathan Haidt. The reason I got it is actually pretty simple…I’m a grown adult and I don’t even like how my phone makes me feel most days. I find it distracting, addictive, and honestly… it often leaves me feeling worse about myself. And if that’s true for me, with a...
