Hi Reader, This is the part of December when the wheels totally fall off (for me at least)! We kinda just have to hold on and get through it. For me that means more takeout than usual, more mess around the house, and more screen time for the kids. I’m sharing some soup favorites below because I love eating soup leftovers for lunch, and my kids will usually eat some soup as long as I pair it with grilled cheese or toast. But please know that I will also be hitting up Chick-Fil-A, Chipotle, and Cava on the regular over the next two weeks, too. If you’re curious, my go-to takeout orders are:
Soup Favorites from Mama Knows In the Recipe BookEasy Tomato Soup Low effort, delicious, and kid-approved? Check! Your whole family will love this simple recipe with a grilled cheese sandwich and some fruit on the side.
Creamy Pumpkin Soup The flavors are delicate, the texture is picky-eater approved, and I think your whole family will love this homemade pumpkin soup.
Blended White Bean & Potato Soup This soup was a crowd pleaser for my family, picky eaters included! Because it’s blended, the texture is smoother. There aren’t any green veggies rearing their heads and deterring kids everywhere! It’s creamy and mild and savory, many of the things I love in a soup!

Hi Reader, There’s a type of behavior I have been seeing at school a lot this year that doesn’t get talked about enough. Probably because it’s uncomfortable, and probably because it’s often dismissed as “just how some people are.” A group of moms who bond by tearing other women down. Openly commenting on other moms’ bodies. Calling people ugly or fat. Mocking how someone parents, dresses, or exists — often with kids standing right there within earshot. That’s not confidence. That’s not being...
Hi Reader, Last week, I asked you to share your thoughts on me creating a talk or resources to help support conversations around weight and body image, and the response was overwhelming. I think it was the most replies I’ve ever gotten to a newsletter. Many of the stories shared broke my heart, and that’s exactly why I want to help with this topic. Every person deserves to feel confident and loved in their body, and to understand the value of nutrition and how it can help fuel your body. I...
Hi Reader, I’ve had a few conversations with moms lately about something that feels especially hard to get “right” – talking to our kids about weight, and how food relates to their body. And I shared a post on Instagram that resonated with a lot of you about what to do if your kid comes to you and says, “I’m fat.” (If you haven’t seen it you can read it on Instagram or Facebook.) I got a lot of great feedback from moms thanking me for talking about it openly and for helping them feel more...
