They DON’T understand $$ 🫣

Hi Reader,

My kids have been asking for allowance for awhile now…do you do allowance at your house?

Of course I had to read up on best practices because that’s just my personality. I’m sure it would do me good to trust my own parenting instincts more, but when I have so much info at my fingertips…I just can’t help myself.

But like, my kids have absolutely no concept of money. It’s not their fault. They think credit cards are just endless sources of funds, and I get why they think that! That’s a very hard thing to understand.

I found a book called The Opposite of Spoiled, by Ron Lieber. (On kindle Unlimited!)

Because that is what I’d like my kids to be! I feel extremely fortunate that we can afford to pay for all their needs. But I also want them to understand the value of money, and that it takes hard work to earn it.

To be 100% honest, I’ve only read 1/4th of the book. But that was enough for me to feel like I had a plan with a purpose.

I love that giving them an allowance is an opportunity for them to learn about saving and managing money.

So…I made a worksheet to teach them! And of course I will share it with you! Click here for the template.

Now I will say this is not going to work for toddlers. But for kids who can do basic addition and subtraction, they can absolutely do this!

Best part? You don’t have to keep any cash on hand to make this work. I’m putting the responsibility on them for this whole process. I LOVE THAT FOR ME. (And you!)

Quick and Easy Blended White Bean & Potato Soup

You know the drill - we need some protein and fiber to make a meal filling! There's nothing I hate more than eating a bowl of soup and still being hungry. So this tastes like a potato soup, YUM, but also with some protein- thanks to the white beans.

Sick Kid? How to help when they don't want to eat.

Have the winter colds and flus hit your house yet? This time of year I find that lots of toddlers are in one of two phases: sick, or recovering from being sick. And while it’s normal for sickness to throw a toddler’s appetite way off, as a parent, I know you still want to be sure your little one gets what they need!

The Very Weird Tip That Helped My Picky Eater

Want to know the very weird tip that helped my picky eater drink milk?! 🥛

When Emilia was 1 she would NOT drink milk, only water, but I needed to get her eating more and really wanted her to drink milk for more calories (and calcium!) at meals.

I figured since she loved water that I could try slowly adding milk to her water and weirdly enough…it worked!

Over a few weeks I started adding more milk and less water until we got to just milk.

What I’m Loving This Week

This week I had to share Emilia’s new laundry basket! It is so cute and easy to carry. Her old one was on its last leg, and this has been a great replacement. If you’re in the market, I highly recommend it!

Have a great week,

Banana Blueberry Muffins

Hi Reader, I recently stumbled upon some information that left me absolutely floored, and I had to share it with you. You know those big food companies that fill grocery shelves with ultra-processed foods that are extra tasty but very low on nutrition? Well, it turns out some of them have also owned major weight loss programs… So, the same companies encouraging us to indulge are also profiting from our desire to lose weight. It’s a cycle that keeps people bouncing between overindulgence and...
