I changed my mind about the book

Hi Reader,

You might remember last year I shared that I was working on a book. If you’ve been wondering how that’s going — I wanted to give you an honest update.

The short version: I’m not writing a book right now.

And that wasn’t a quick or easy decision.

I genuinely loved the idea of the book. I care so deeply about supporting parents — especially moms — and helping feeding kids feel less stressful. That’s always been the heart behind my work: helping you feel less alone and a little more confident in the day-to-day reality of feeding your family.

But midway through the project, I paused and asked myself something:

Do I actually want to write a book?

Not:
“Would this be good for my brand?”
“Is this what successful people do?”
“Will this look impressive?”

Just… do I want this?

And the honest answer surprised me.

No.

I realized writing a book wasn’t a personal dream — it was something I thought I should do. A milestone that seems almost expected in this space.

And I do love writing. I really do.

But when I pictured the next couple years — the writing, revisions, promotion, travel, launching — I didn’t feel excited. I felt heavy. A little drained just thinking about it.

I also ran the numbers (because I can’t help myself). Even with a good advance, once you factor in expenses and time, it’s really not lucrative.

So I decided not to move forward.

Right now, what matters most to me is what we’re already doing together — the conversations, the resources, the practical tools that help you feed your families with more confidence and less stress.

And that matters more to me than having my name on a book spine.

So that’s the honest update.

And thank you — truly — for being here for all the pivots, experiments, and evolutions along the way. It means more than you probably realize.

Time Change Stress?

If the idea of the time change next week causes you stress, I’m thinking of you. When my kids were little, the time change rocked our schedule. Watching friends talk about creating incremental changes for days to make the change slowly boggled my mind. I didn’t even remember the change was coming.

The great news? Once your kids are school-aged, it stops having such a significant impact on their bodies and schedules and it just becomes a blip in the week that everyone forgets about in a day or two.

If you have a few rough days with your kids due to the change, remember that you’re not alone, and it won’t always be such a hurdle!

What I'm About to Order in Every Color

I accidentally found the perfect everyday skirt for spring and I am THRILLED. I’m all about comfort and this one is perfect. It’s form fitting and smooth, but not tight or restrictive at all. The length and fit are great. I honestly prefer it to the Lululemon ones I have, and it’s a fraction of the price!

(It’s a little wrinkled because I put it on straight from pulling it out of the package!)

On the topic of books...

This is one I just devoured – one of you recently emailed and recommended it to me because you and your book club loved it – thank you!! It was a beautiful story, endearing, and the perfect book to unwind with at the end of the day.

Have a great week, friend!

P.S. The kids are very into this angel hair right now!

Hi Reader, Protein is having a moment. Everything is now “high protein,” including coffee and water, and suddenly a lot of moms are wondering: Am I getting enough? Could I be doing too much? Will eating more protein help with weight loss? And what about my kids...are they getting enough? Let’s clear this up — no macro tracking or gram counting necessary! How much protein do moms actually need? Protein needs vary based on activity level, life stage, health status, and overall eating patterns,...

Clear Jar of Peanut Butter with a Spoon With Peanuts

Hi Reader, I’ll admit it: one of my favorite forms of low-stakes entertainment is scrolling through my neighborhood Facebook group. It’s ideal when you’ve got 5 minutes waiting on a kid somewhere, and I do actually pick up great intel. Who can repair your sprinklers, where does everyone go for plastic surgery, and what streets are randomly closed for construction. And occasionally I get a first row seat to neighborhood drama that makes my own life feel extremely calm by comparison. Last week...

Homemade Queso on a Plate with Halved Avocado and Tortilla Chips

Hi Reader, There’s a type of behavior I have been seeing at school a lot this year that doesn’t get talked about enough. Probably because it’s uncomfortable, and probably because it’s often dismissed as “just how some people are.” A group of moms who bond by tearing other women down. Openly commenting on other moms’ bodies. Calling people ugly or fat. Mocking how someone parents, dresses, or exists — often with kids standing right there within earshot. That’s not confidence. That’s not being...
