Cookies for breakfast?? 🫢

Hey Reader,

I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “parenting gets easier as kids grow” thing lately. I know it doesn’t always feel that way in the moment—trust me, I’ve been there with the sleepless nights, food battles, and the never-ending to-do list. But as our kids get bigger, they start to surprise us in all sorts of ways. The tantrums fade, the bedtime battles get shorter, and suddenly, you can have a real conversation about their day (without the meltdown).

Don’t get me wrong, there are still challenges ahead. But there’s a lot of joy in watching them become more independent, find their own interests, and even pitch in around the house (hallelujah!).

I wanted to share a snippet of a kind message I received in reply to last week’s newsletter. A mom shared that listening to the episode of the Growin’ Up podcast I was a guest on helped her picky eater have an honest conversation with her about food that she had never been able to share her feelings on before. They had a great dialogue that helped them both better understand what the other was feeling.

She ended her message with, “Anyway, I wanted to share this anecdote with you as proof that your podcast did something very important for my kids and me. They're in bed listening to the episode now learning about what nutritionists do and this occurrence tonight is just another way you've helped make my family a little healthier. Thanks for that!”

Her message brought tears to my eyes. I am so honored to have the opportunity to connect with and help so many amazing parents and caregivers through Mama Knows Nutrition. When I started MKN eight years ago, I couldn’t have dreamed of how meaningful this community would become.

Thank you for being a part of the Mama Knows family. I love connecting with you and am thankful for every moment of your busy life that you choose to spend with me. I know how challenging parenting is, and I’m grateful to share this journey with you. ❤️

Feeding Tip Of The Week

Three things you’ve been told about diet and ADHD that are wrong:

  1. Myth: Sugar causes hyperactivity – instead of avoiding sugar, it’s more helpful to include protein and fat at meals to stabilize blood sugar swings.
  2. Myth: Gluten and dairy cause ADHD – Some kids with ADHD may happen to be sensitive or allergic to gluten or dairy, but it is not linked to ADHD directly.
  3. There are certain superfoods that boost the ADHD brain – It’s great to serve nutrient dense foods! But if your child doesn’t show improvement in symptoms from diet changes, it doesn’t mean they are broken. There are no proven miracle foods for ADHD.

What I’m Loving This Week

Last week I shared my new shoes on IG Stories and so many people wanted the link, so I’m sharing here too! They look great with straight or cropped jeans and the chunky heel gives me a little extra height without the discomfort of wearing heels. And this color goes with almost any outfit. Love them!

Have a great week,

P.S. Need snack ideas? (You and me both! 😅) Shop all my favorites at Target.

Hi Reader, I recently stumbled upon some information that left me absolutely floored, and I had to share it with you. You know those big food companies that fill grocery shelves with ultra-processed foods that are extra tasty but very low on nutrition? Well, it turns out some of them have also owned major weight loss programs… So, the same companies encouraging us to indulge are also profiting from our desire to lose weight. It’s a cycle that keeps people bouncing between overindulgence and...
